Welcome to My New Blog!
Welcome to my new domain and blog! This blog will focus on educational technology and hopefully be a treasure trove of resources, new tools and strategies for integrating technology into instruction. I tried a similar blogging venture last November but I don’t think I went about it correctly. This time I started a new blog on my own domain and believe this will be the best move for me personally and professionally. This is the last time I will ask my subscribers to move to a new blog that I started as I know it can be a hassle to change over RSS feeds to various RSS aggregators/ readers.
Since recuperating from back surgery, I will be online more and posting regularly to my blog about technology issues and tools, Classroom 2.0 LIVE, DEN or K12Online Conference events. Stay tuned for more details and I promise this change will be worth your while!
To ease any inconvenience for changing RSS feeds, I am going to offer all
subscribers to this blog an opportunity to win an Amazon gift card! No strings attached – just subscribe to this blog and leave a message in the comment section below this post. One random winner will be chosen on November 6, 2011 and notified via email so make sure you leave that information in your comment. Thanks for making this move with me and be sure to click on the pink RSS feed icon or subscribe via email and good luck to you!

Thank you so much all for leaving a comment, Tony! I commend you for your work with NBPTS as I have a special passion for those just starting out or already on their way to becoming a nationally board certified teacher.
I love the freedom that the plugins and scripts allow me to do when using a self-hosted version of WordPress. Doors have opened to new opportunities just as becoming an NBCT did for my career.

Glad you’re recovering from your surgery. I now plan my Saturdays around Classroom 2.0 Live when I can. (Yeah, I can watch the archived version, but live is more fun!)
Thanks Susie! It has been great to be back into the swing things with Classroom 2.0 LIVE. Each day I am one day closer to fully recovering from back surgery and for that I am extremely grateful!

Always looking for more ideas for integrating technology in the classroom.
Dear Kim,
I hope your recuperation from back surgery is a smooth one.
Congratulations for choosing to host your blog under your own personal domain name! I’ve been a member of your NBPTS group on LinkedIn for some time now and based upon the loyalty of your members, I’m sure you will have the same success and loyalty with your blog.
Hosting your own wordpress blog will give you more freedom than you had on the wordpress org site. At least now you will be able to control the type of ads that appear and make modifications to your themes a lot easier. You will also be able to create sub-domains to be able to test out new technologies. Who knows maybe in the future you’ll even create a sub-domain that will run a cool LMS, like Moodle, for us educators to test drive.
If you recall, I am a certified candidate support provider for NBPTS. Our resource center is located in Chicago, Illinois and we work directly with Chicago Public School teachers through our not-for-profit organization, Achieve NBC. Being able to refer the candidates we work with to a technology blog such as yours is going to be very helpful for their portfolio. As you know, NBPTS requires candidates to write about the technology they use in the classroom.
Again, thank you for adding so much value to the education community. I wish you much success with your new blog.
